While working on So Pretty! Felt, I came across a handful of great sources to buy felt. Yes, you can buy felt at your local crafts store and while what they sell there is totally fine for most projects, sometimes it’s nice to work with higher quality felt. 100% wool felt is a little more expensive, but I also find it much more pleasurable to work with because it feels so much better. It’s also softer and has a more nuanced visual appearance.
Wow, that makes me sound like a total felt snob, but for special projects, it’s really worth it to invest in the good stuff.
Here are a few places that I like to go to for felt:
Purl Soho- This nyc store has an amazing assortment of fabric, and they carry WollFitz felt from Holland in a wide range of colors.
Felt on the Fly- This etsy shop carries a nice range of 100% wool felt too, and they also have a fun selection of die cut felt shapes including flowers and hearts.
Prairie Point Junction- They have a nice selection of felt yardage in a few different blends of materials. This would be a great source for a large project, especially if you didn’t want to spend a fortune on supplies.
We’re finalizing the blog tour, so stay tuned for more info on it to come in the next week or so. The tour will share a few tutorials from the book as well as more info on the contributors—plus we’ll finally be able to share our stop animation trailer for the book. Exciting!
