So Pretty! Felt: The Contributors

With both So Pretty! books, I’ve had the amazing opportunity to work with a great group of contributors. It was a complete pleasure to share their stories in the books—and to share such awesome projects from each woman. For me, knowing a bit about the person behind the project makes the whole experience more meaningful simply because it’s more personal. I love knowing what inspired the project or where a maker finds her own creative energy. I enjoy being able to picture where each woman does her work or what her home might look like.

Having that context helps to make our creative community feel a little bit smaller and more intimate, and it helps to fuel my own creativity.

To give you a sense of the sort of projects that you might find in So Pretty! Felt, here’s a look at the contributors who were gracious enough to be part of the book.

Yoko Vega: Yoko splits her time between Japan and LA and has a unique style that is a joy to explore. Her two necklace projects use felt in a brand new way to create pieces that will steal all of the attention away from your outfit!

Stephanie Monroe: Stephanie is an eco-minded creative who provided the Cupcake Toppers (check them out on Casey’s blog!) and a project for a sweet little birdy pouch.

Faith Lex: Faith made some of my favorite projects in the book—floral hair pins and a brooch. I’ve made a few of these over the past few months and I just love how they turn out each time.

Lindy Cline: Lindy has a way with piecing felt. Her sewn home accessories are modern and clean, which would make them a great accessory for a sleek home or apartment.

Jill Collier: Jill makes a wide range of felt accessories including personal accessories (purses, clutches, and the like) along with home items such as pillows. It’s her clutch that you see on the cover of the book.

Kasia Piecyk: Kasia crafts alongside her sister in Poland and she contributed a necklace and an earring project to the book. Her spiral technique was new to me and I love the look that it creates in the finished projects.

Jen Fitzsimmons: Jen’s felt projects for the book were holiday related, but she does much more than that. So if you ever find yourself in need of a new wreath or home accessory, check out her shop.

Sandie Zimmerman: Sandie’s work always makes me want to run through a field of wildflowers. Her signature embroidery style is chic, yet somehow rustic, and her brooches, headbands, and other accessories are awesome for elevating any outfit.

Jeanie Lai: Jeanie has a modern style of making that added a nice element to the assortment of projects in the book. She created two jewelry projects that are both easy to make and fun to wear.

Laura Howard: Laura is a felt craft wiz! Check out her site for info on her new books, tutorials, and general crafty goodness.

Nicole Franke: With a style that’s sophisticated and classic, Nicole’s work with felt flowers and flower arrangements continues to amaze me. If I’d gotten married in the winter, I would have loved to have one of her felt flower bouquets to carry down the aisle.

Aileen Leijten: Aileen is a Waldorf alum who carries that philosophy with her through her approach to crafts and art. She’s a seriously talented illustrator and created two felted projects for the book.

We’ll be sharing the blog tour lineup really soon, so stay tuned!
